Aug. 22 (CWNews.com) - Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Emmanuel III Delly has called for the release of a priest kidnapped August 15 in Baghdad, the MISNA news agency reports.
"The only thing we ask of the abductors is that no harm be done to Father Saad Sirop Hanna," the Patriarch told MISNA, "and that our priest be freed as soon as possible."
The Chaldean leader confirmed rumors that the kidnappers have asked for a ransom payment. "They want money; I don't know how much," he said. The Patriarch said that he suspected the kidnappers do not realize that the Chaldean Church without extensive financial resources.
